What do I receive when renewing my CRS license?

Renewing your CRS license provides an additional year of premium support and updates to your product. This ensures you will always have the very latest features and software which includes many new features and enhancements to the product itself. As a paid CRS user, your new CRS ideas and feature requests will be implemented first.

How do I change my database host connection?

You will receive an email containing your online hosting details for your new database that will contain the following items:

Hostname: This is the new database host address

Database: The name of the database

User ID:   The login name of the database

Password:  The database password

THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP IS THIS:

[1] Backup your CRS data and templates which can be found at:

C:\Users\[Your User]\Documents\CRS\

DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL STEP [1] IS COMPLETED!

[2] Backup your CRS database.  

For SQL backup

DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL STEP [2] IS COMPLETED!

 

 

Instructions to change to a new database

Option 1 – Via CRS Settings

Option 2 – Manual Method

 

Option 1  – Change Database location via CRS Settings

Start CRS and go to Settings->Database tab.  Next click the Database Connection button.

The Database Wizard page will open where you can specify the new values as per the email.

Please enter Hostname, Database, User ID and Password exatactly as you find them in the email.  Simply copy and paste these values.

Click the TEST CONNECTION [1] button and the connection should go GREEN

IMPORTANT: IF THIS IS A NEW DATABASE YOU WILL NEED TO SPECIFY THE DATABASE STRUCTURE BY CLICKING THE REMAINDER BUTTONS (3, 4 AND 5).  BUTTON 2 CAN BE INGNORED IF USING A ONLINE DATABASE AS THIS ONLY CHECKS YOUR LOCAL MACHINE FOR AN INSTALLED SQL SERVER INSTANCE.

Instructions to change to Online Database

[2] Open “database.xml” using notepad which is located at:

C:\Users\[Your User]\Documents\CRS\Database\database.xml

In order to start using your online database you need to make a change in your database.xml which can be found at:

Please delete the contents of the file and replace with the following:

How do I backup my database?

There are several methods to backup your database:

Method 1 – Copying the physical database files

Method 2 – 3rd Party Software

THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP IS THIS:

[1] Backup your CRS data and templates which can be found at:

C:\Users\[Your User]\Documents\CRS\

DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL STEP [1] IS COMPLETED!

[2] Backup your CRS database.  

For SQL backup

DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL STEP [2] IS COMPLETED!

 

You can manually make copies of your database files by stopping the SQL Server (CRS) service (Run->services.msc) then go to “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.CRS\MSSQL\DATA” and physically copy CRS and CRS_log files. Once copied, restart the CRS service again.

Please also ensure you backup your c:\User\Documents\CRS\ folder which contains your database connection file, license file and templates.

We also recommend the following SQL Backup software which is free: sqlbackupandftp.com [1] but unable to offer support for this software.

My password / access code is not working and I cannot log into CRS?

If you are using CRS for the first time, the default code is “1234”.  Please make sure you change it after you have logged in.
